A fund has been established to help Thomas and Michelle Shaffer’s family after a fire that damaged their Stillwater Estates home Sunday night.

Donations may be made to the Shaffer Benefit Fund at US Bank in Kalispell, located at 30 N. Main St.

The Shaffer’s 10-year-old son lost all his belongings when his bedroom in a loft over the garage burned. His shirt size is either a size 10 or medium, pants are size 10 slim, and shoes are size 5. Their 13-year-old son also lost much of his clothing, which was in the laundry room at the time it burned. Their 9-year-old daughter’s clothing can be restored with cleaning.

“The neighbors have been great,” Michelle Shaffer said. Her next-door neighbor is the homeowners association president, and acted as the point man for putting out the word on what the family needed. “People have been dropping of sacks of clothes. They let the kids come hang out with a friend. They drop by saying, ‘What do you need? What can I do for you?’”
