Man crawls through doggie door

Flathead County sheriff

Wednesday morning, a man crawled through the doggie door of a house on High Road, apparently telling a resident he was looking for bandages for an injured friend. He then left. Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies followed the man’s footprints to a house in the South Meadows subdivision. He was later arrested as a burglary suspect.

An officer slipped on the ice in Marion and hit his head around 6 p.m. Tuesday. No medical was needed.

Kids were reportedly throwing snowballs at a mobile home in Forest Acres in Whitefish around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. The owner will reportedly take up the issue with management.

A man was arrested on charges of partner/family member assault at a residence on Harmony Road around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A man seen panhandling at a bar along U.S. 2 West in Columbia Falls was asked to leave around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Authorities arrived at Kalispell Regional Medical Center around 2 a.m. Wednesday, but were unable to locate the man with unknown injuries said to have been assaulted earlier in the evening at a residence on Conrad Drive.

At 4:15 a.m., a man allegedly stole a 12 pack of beer from a Columbia Falls gas station. Authorities were unable to locate him.

An injured dog, apparently hit by a car, was seen lying in the shoulder of U.S. 93 West. It was taken to the Whitefish Animal hospital around 8:30 a.m. No word on the extent of the dog’s injuries.

A mule that wandered into a Snowberry Trail yard around 11:30 a.m. was taken home by its owner.

Deputies received 118 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Kalispell police

A concerned neighbor called Kalispell Police after witnessing two men trying to enter a house on Eighth Avenue East North through a window Tuesday afternoon. Officers determined that the men had just lost the key.

A woman called police to inquire about her friend, who apparently has stolen some of her makeup.

Tuesday night, a man apparently pulled on a woman’s walker, causing the woman to almost fall and hurt her back, according to the woman.

A woman was counseled after she called police to report that her boyfriend hit her in the jaw at an apartment on Eighth Avenue West. She reportedly left the residence after the Tuesday night incident.

A 19-year-old man was arrested in the parking lot of a hardware store on U.S. 93 for driving under the influence and outstanding warrants just before 4 a.m. Wednesday.

A Honda without a tag apparently keeps parking in a handicapped spot near a building on Financial Drive. Officers determined that the handicapped spot was not well marked and informed the company leasing the property that they can’t ticket the car unless handicapped spots are properly signed.

Officers received 68 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Whitefish police

Whitefish Police arrested a 21-year-old Whitefish man for driving under the influence and not having insurance on Wednesday.

Officers received 26 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Columbia Falls police

Columbia Falls Police received 17 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Alarms

A resident of Hodgson Road in Columbia Falls called authorities at 9:50 p.m., concerned because about half of a large, flaming piece of wood was sticking out of the home’s wood stove. Four members of the Columbia Falls Fire Department arrived in about 15 minutes and helped solve the problem without further incident.
