Doris Louise Helseth passed away peacefully at Sherwood Assisted Living Manor in Sequim, Wash., on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at 3:01 a.m. She was born June 14, 1922, in South Bend, Ind., to Donald and Estella Brumbaugh. She grew up and attended school in Whitefish. Doris met the love of her life and was later married to Ernest Helseth on April 6, 1940. Three children were born of this 58-year union. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie; daughter, Linda; parents; and three brothers. She is survived by two daughters, Dolores Ivers of Great Falls, and Judy and Steve Clark of Sequim; four grandchildren, Theron Langel of Seattle, Tara and Charles Muck of Lafayette, Ore., James Ivers of Crestview, Fla., and Julie Ivers of Great Falls; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Richard, and Beverly Brumbaugh, of Trout Creek; and one sister, Donna, and Donald James, of Kalispell. She has many, many other relatives and friends by whom she will be remembered with great affection. Doris and Ernie lived the majority of their lives in Kalispell. In later years they split time between Kalispell and Sun City, Ariz. Doris moved to Sequim with her daughter Judy and son-in-law Steve in July 2003, where she spent the remainder of her life. This was not an easy move for her but she accepted it graciously. A private memorial service will be conducted at a later date at the C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery in Kalispell, where Doris can be forever next to her beloved Ernie. The family suggests that any donations be made to Clallam County Volunteer Hospice, 540 E. Eighth St., Port Angeles, WA 98362, in Doris s memory, on behalf of the wonderful, loving and professional care they gave Doris during her very long battle with cancer " especially during her last days that were so difficult.
