Two kids were given a $20 bill in exchange for a glass of Kool-Aid at their Hungry Horse stand. Their mother became suspicious when the customer told them to keep the change. She took the bill to a local bank Wednesday afternoon, where she learned it was counterfeit. The bank alerted the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.

A baggie containing a green substance was located by an employee at a box store on U.S. 2 East Wednesday afternoon. Authorities determined the substance was marijuana and will destroy it.

Wednesday afternoon, a woman driving a white Buick was apparently using a baseball bat to beat a child in the back seat, according to a report from a third party. Deputies were unable to locate the woman.

A man ran from a box store on U.S. 2 East with a number of stolen items Wednesday evening. Deputies were unable to locate him.

A middle-aged woman keeps appearing from behind a dumpster near a post office in Evergreen, according to a complaint filed Wednesday evening. Deputies were unable to locate her.

A panhandler yelling at cars near a box store on U.S. 2 East was arrested for disorderly conduct and criminal mischief around 6 p.m. Wednesday. He reportedly had been drinking.

An ex-boyfriend was reportedly sending threatening text messages to a woman who lives on Harmony Court. She was given advice Wednesday night.

A man was apparently punched in the face by another man during a fight Wednesday night in the parking lot of a Marion business. He was given medical attention at the scene but was not transported to the hospital. The second man had left the scene when deputies arrived.

A canoe was reported stolen from a Big Horn Drive residence at 11:21 a.m. Thursday.

Deputies received 143 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Kalispell police

Responding to a report of suspicious activity near a storage center on Third Avenue East, Kalispell Police discovered two people smoking marijuana in a vehicle around 11 p.m. Wednesday. A woman was arrested for possession of dangerous drugs and a juvenile was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. The driver was not arrested. They told police they picked that area because they thought they wouldn’t get caught.

A man called police to report his wife was harassing him. She apparently wanted him to leave the North Meridian residence, but he wanted to stay. Officers counseled the two and the man ended up leaving for the night.

A woman was arrested for theft and obstructing justice at a sporting goods store on Hutton Ranch Road Wednesday afternoon.

Six juveniles seen loitering in an alley behind a radio station on First Avenue East were spoken to by police around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Apparently they were waiting for a parent to pick them up from youth group.

Balloons set off a motion sensor at a restaurant on U.S. 93 North at 2:48 a.m. Thursday.

Officers received 60 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Whitefish Police received 31 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Columbia Falls police

Columbia Falls Police received 27 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Alarms

Evergreen Fire and Rescue extinguished a grease fire that started on the stove at a Shadow Lane residence Wednesday around 7 p.m. The fire did not spread and the area was cleared 18 minutes after the initial call.

A chimney fire was out before Evergreen Fire and Rescue arrived at a Pioneer Road residence soon after the 1:41 a.m. call Thursday.
