Pig, statue, wheelchair go missing

Thieves ran amok throughout Flathead County Wednesday. Among the missing are a live piglet, a stone bulldog statue, tools and a wheelchair. Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating.

Once again, deputies received a report of a man apparently unashamed of his body in Kiwanis Park.

It was a little early for fireworks when a caller on Montana 40 and U.S. 93 complained at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday.

In the Columbia Falls area, a caller complained of ongoing problems with fireworks in the neighborhood.

Fireworks weren’t just loud in Hungry Horse; on Wednesday night one was launched into a house.

A caller reported kids were trespassing on private property in the Kalispell area and vandalizing equipment.

Other vandalism was reported at a bypass construction site.

The man and woman reportedly pushing each other on Whitefish Stage Road said they were only yelling.

A man was caught shoplifting at a U.S. 2 East business. A woman later was caught shoplifting, also on U.S. 2 East.

A child called to report often being left alone by his or her parents, who drink heavily. The case is under investigation.

Deputies put their counseling skills to work in Lakeside when a woman was having difficulty with her teenage son.  Later they counseled fighting brothers in the Kalispell area, a woman accused of harassing another woman, and dueling siblings near Whitefish.

The three people spotted breaking into a Martin City apartment apparently had permission to be there — they just didn’t have keys.

An unruly man was removed from the train at Essex and given a ride in a patrol car to his Kalispell destination.

Maybe he was trying to make a delivery deadline, but authorities told the pizza delivery man that didn’t give him an excuse to drive recklessly.

An intoxicated man apparently tried to hitch a ride Wednesday night by shining a flashlight at passing cars.

A Kalispell-area resident called deputies when someone was heard trying the doorknobs late Wednesday night. The would-be burglar was gone when deputies arrived.

The possible prowler near Columbia Falls turned out to be someone who’d shown up for an unexpected early morning visit.

Deputies cut down the dummies dangling from an overpass near Columbia Falls but didn’t catch the people who’d strung them up.

A Lakeside suicide is under investigation.

County animal wardens were busy Wednesday. A loose and neglected dog was reported in the Coram area; the owner reportedly already had made arrangements to care for the animal.

Dogs chased horses in the Kalispell area.

Near Lake Blaine, a vicious dog cornered a jogger.

In the Columbia Falls area, a pit bull reportedly attacked a cat.

A caller said the neighbor’s dog had attacked her dog; she was taking her pet to the vet.

A dog reportedly was locked in a vehicle for a long time Wednesday afternoon.

The 16 dogs locked in a laundry room in the Bigfork area were healthy when an animal warden checked on them.

Transients who were chased off a First Avenue West North business’s property were in a nearby abandoned building. Kalispell police told them to leave.

Bikes were stolen from a First Avenue driveway.

A Hawthorne Avenue dog reportedly was attacked by another dog.

Three boys jumped out of a car, grabbed a backpack out of an unlocked vehicle in a U.S. 93 North parking lot and took off, the caller said. When the caller yelled at them, the boys threw the backpack out the window.

A man had concerns about child pornography and asked an officer to meet him at a West Idaho store.

A car parked on Eighth Street West was broken into Tuesday night.

A man apparently was taking photos of U.S. 93 store customers on his cell phone without their knowledge.

A dog leaning over a fence on Third Avenue East reportedly bit someone in the stomach.

Kids loitering in a casino parking lot were asked to move along. Later kids were hanging out in a First Avenue East parking lot, despite clearly posted “no loitering” signs.

A Fifth Avenue West resident complained when a nearby repair shop was still working on cars shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday.

A Seventh Avenue West resident requested extra patrol after someone tried to break into her car.

A man told police that his intoxicated ex-wife keeps calling and harassing him. Officers told her to leave him alone.

People with fireworks were counseled on Arizona Street.

A woman said her daughter threatened to beat her up.

A woman called police after her brother told her he had to hang up so he could beat up his girlfriend. Officers arrested him for felony assault on a peace officer.

Sheriff’s deputies helped Bigfork Fire Department and Flathead County Search and Rescue bring out a woman with an injured ankle from the Wolf Creek trailhead near the Jewel Basin.
