Kalispell Police have arrested two Kalispell men after a disturbance last month led to the discovery of illegal marijuana plants.

Lorne Krieg, 20, and Cary Bredfield, 19, were arrested in the case, Chief Roger Nasset said in a press release, and more arrests are expected in the near future.

Bredfield was charged with felony manufacturing of dangerous drugs and Krieg for obstructing a peace officer.

The arrests followed a report of several people involved in a fight June 6 on Fourth Avenue East in Kalispell.

When officers arrived on scene, a man later identified as Krieg fled to a house at nearby 23 Fourth Ave. E., Nasset said.

Despite being ordered to stop, Krieg continued to flee and was caught just inside the house. At that time, another man ran toward the rear of the house out of the officers’ sight.

When Krieg was taken into custody, police found dried blood on his hands.

While trying to find out what had happened during the disturbance, officers found three more people involved, Nasset said.

The ensuing investigation turned up several marijuana plants and drug paraphernalia at the house.

The Northwest Drug Task Force prepared a search warrant for the house, where officers found two rooms being used to grow pot.

There were 58 marijuana plants in various stages, grow lights, multiple drug paraphernalia items and what officers believe are hallucinogenic mushrooms.

None of the residents had medical marijuana cards or were licensed caregivers, Nasset said.

At least one of them reportedly was applying for a card and for caregiver status.
