Tucker extends tourney lead

WHITEFISH - Shawn Tucker and Darah Newell are still leading after two days at the 74th annual Earl Hunter Memorial 4th of July Tournament at Whitefish Lake Golf Club.

After rain delayed play for two hours on Friday, Tucker carded an even 71 on the South Course for a two-day total of 142. Heading into today's finale, the Whitefish golfer sits atop the leaderboard two shots ahead of Gordon Webb and Marcus Williams.

Newell built a five-stroke lead after shooting a 4-over 76 on the North Course. Leslie McGetrick improved four strokes from the day before, carding a 3-over 75 for 154. Kelsie Crippen sits seven strokes back after shooting a 77.

Kalispell's Larry Iverson fell out of the top standings after carding a 4-over 75, but the 2009 Glacier High grad remains five shots back of Tucker.

Chelsea Ray of Whitefish is currently eight shots back after tallying a 78 on Friday for 157. Tess Stevenson of Kalispell is 10 shots off the lead and Julia DiGiallonardo is 11 back.
