Kalispell scored all of the runs it needed — two in the first inning — and Alex Stanley had another strong start on the mound as the Lakers dropped the Glacier Twins 2-1 in American Legion AA baseball play Tuesday night at Griffin Field.

Dean Stimpson, who walked, scored on an error and Marshall Boyland, who singled, crossed home plate on a wild pitch to put the Lakers on top early.

Glacier scored in the fourth when Kyler Blades singled in Kyle Knox, who also singled. Blades went 2 for 4 and had the game’s only extra base hit — a double in the third inning.

“It was good to see us finish in a tight ballgame,” Lakers coach Ryan Malmin said.

“Alex Stanley pitched eight innings, did a great job for us. Joe Pistorese was able to come in and shut them down in the ninth.”

Stanley had seven strikeouts and issued six walks.

Pistorese issued one walk, but fanned three.

Kalispell wraps up regular-season play on Sunday hosting Medicine Hat for two league games.

Glacier has four league games remaining, single outings Thursday and Friday at Missoula and then a doubleheader at home Saturday versus Medicine Hat.
