Gun play gets dad arrested in Bigfork

Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man, 45, after he allegedly called a man on Latigo Lane in Bigfork at 10:30 p.m. Thursday and threatened to kill him.

He then showed up at the man’s house with a gun. A charge of assault with a weapon has been recommended.

The victim told deputies that the dispute started with the suspect’s son causing problems, then threatening to get a gun from his truck to do harm. He was restrained from going to his truck and related that later to his father, who took offense and called the Latigo Lane man and made the threat.

When deputies arrived at Latigo Lane, the suspect was on the ground and two men were holding guns on him. They relinquished their weapons to the deputies, who placed the suspect in handcuffs and arrested him.

A stolen snowblower was recovered on Sulky Lane Thursday morning.

A lime-green Next bike was reported stolen on Solberg Drive. Another bike was found on Mission View Terrace.

A sorrel paint quarter horse was missing Thursday morning from Whitetail Ridge.

Deputies received a call from a concerned person who saw a man walking for more than an hour on U.S. 93 near Political Hill with a cloth bag and no hat or sunglasses. The caller said he appeared confused but deputies found that he was fine.

A bus was the target of criminal mischief on FFA Road.

Theft over the Internet was reported by a person living on Farm to Market Road.

A deputy investigated a call about a dog suffering in a hot car. The dog was inside a building when the deputy arrived. The owner was counseled.

A business on Grand Avenue in Bigfork complained that someone had made off with two rolls of toilet paper.

Evicted tenants left two cats behind at a rental on Canyon Road in Hungry Horse.

A youth was charged with shoplifting pop from a Hungry Horse business Thursday afternoon.

A  driver complained that three riders on horseback were blocking a lane of Edgewood Drive in Whitefish and cursing drivers. They had ridden off into the sunset when a deputy arrived.

Vandals attacked a West Glacier mobile home with graffiti Thursday evening.

A black bear caused alarm at a campground in West Glacier at 8:26 p.m. Thursday. The bear ran off before a deputy showed up.

Fighting between a man and woman on U.S. 93 South in Somers attracted attention from deputies. Both had been drinking. Deputies separated the two. The woman was given a ride to a local hotel and the man’s keys were given to a sober third party.

A fight was reported between a father and son on Wildebeest Lane in Marion Thursday evening. The son left and the father refused medical attention. No one wanted to pursue charges.

Two people were fighting on Kings Loop. They were counseled and then went peacefully to bed.

A neighbor was driven crazy by a dog that barked for four hours Thursday night on Dale Drive.

A caller reported drunk people fighting at a residence with a bonfire outside around 11:30 p.m. on Canyon Road in Hungry Horse. No weapons were found. Windows were found punched out of cars.

Just after midnight Friday, a caller complained that a mountain lion was harassing dogs on Rockwood Road. It was referred to wildlife officials.

 A transient was picking fights and panhandling customers at a business on U.S. 2 East. He was ushered away.

A deputy was asked to investigate an out-of-control 15-year-old boy who was brandishing a knife in a home on Plentywood Drive in Evergreen.

Kalispell Police responded to a dispute Thursday in which a 13-year-old lost control of his skateboard and a motorist ran over it but refused to pay for it. Officers counseled both parties.

A man on Second Avenue West got more than he bargained for when he put his fist through a glass door and received a cut that took him to the emergency room.

A large crowd gathered to watch some men without helmets jumping BMX bikes over fences at the skate park. They had pedaled away by the time officers arrived.

A woman complained that a man in a silver Ford Focus shot at her son with an air gun near Hedges School Thursday. He was not injured.

An employee of a Hutton Ranch Road business complained that four men in a vehicle with Washington plates were harassing customers trying to sell them perfume.

Two bikes were stolen from Third Avenue West Thursday evening. No description was given.

A good citizen brought a laptop computer found in a local parking lot to the police department.

Explosions were reported Thursday evening on Buttercup Loop. The caller said it sounded like cherry bombs exploded in trash cans.

A neighbor on First Avenue East heard noises then reported items missing from the back porch of a house where occupants were out of town.

Officers investigated three slashed tires, a broken car window and two missing stereo speakers from a vehicle on Sixth Street West.

A man on Empire Loop complained that he misplaced his wallet and now his credit card has been used.

A caller reported that a dog in hot car was not doing well around 11:30 a.m. Thursday in a parking lot on Third Avenue West. The car was leaving when the officer arrived.

An extra patrol was put on 10th Avenue West when a  resident said young males were spotted looking through car windows at night.

A woman reported suspicious people with stolen private information came to her house on North Meridian Road in a new white Subaru and were trying to get her to buy into a union at her workplace. They left when she asked for their identification.
