Andrews 10th in steer wrestling

Jake Andrews of Kalispell posted the 10th best time in steer wrestling on Tuesday at the 62nd annual National High School Finals Rodeo in Gillette, Wyo., at the Cam-Plex.

Andrews' time - 7.616 seconds.

Andrews, who recently signed a national rodeo letter-of-intent at the University of Montana, is currently sitting in 42nd place in a field of 72 competitors.

Rowdy Parrott of Mamou, La., had the best go on Tuesday at 4.793. Parrott is fifth in the standings.

Zane Holdbrook of Roberts was 17th in tie-down roping, 13.757. Logan Medlin of Tatum, N.M., had the best time in that event, 9.188.

Chancey Stirling of Huntley was 13th in barrel racing with a time of 18.11. Mary Shae Hays of Hermiston, Ore., had the best ride at 17.594.

In girls cow cutting, Danielle Staudenmeyer of Dillon was fifth with a 203 score.

The rodeo, which began Sunday, runs through Saturday.

More than 1,453 cowboys and cowgirls from the U.S., Canada and Australia are competing.

Performances are held 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily with the championship round Saturday at 7 p.m.

This marks the eighth time the Cam-Plex has hosted this event.
