Eighteen horses flown in for The Event at Rebecca Farm
Ryan Stanley leads Olympic equestrian Phillp Dutton’s horse In Mid Air from a charter plane at Glacier Park International Airport on Monday afternoon. Eighteen horses were flown from Baltimore to the Flathead Valley to compete in The Event at Rebecca Farm this week.
A charter jet that landed Monday at Glacier Park International Airport brought an unusual load of passengers: horses.
There were 18 horses — competitors The Event at Rebecca Farm — on the flight from Baltimore that arrived at Glacier Jet Center.
They were loaded into trailers and transported west of Kalispell to Rebecca Farm, where top horses and riders will compete Thursday through Sunday in one of 12 stops on the equestrian World Cup tour.
“Hosting our sixth World Cup event continues to define our presence on the world equestrian stage,” Rebecca Broussard, organizer of The Event, said in a press release.
“While we enjoy helping riders in the West compete at the highest levels, we are especially excited about the riders from the East Coast who have made a special journey by flying to Montana this summer. It’s been a dream of the Rebecca Farm team to have these riders compete here and it marks a new high point for The Event.”
Competitors will vie for more than $50,000 in prize money and more than $30,000 in trophies and tack awards while they compete in dressage, cross-country, and show jumping.
In addition to the competition, a trade fair with arts and crafts is offered throughout The Event with a wide range of food concessions.
Spectators are welcome and there is no admission charge. Spectators may walk the cross-country course along flagged alleys or watch the overall course from an elevated grassy area with a great vantage point of the complex.
There are 475 competitors registered for competition and nearly 20,000 spectators expected for the four days of competition.
Rebecca Farm can be reached by traveling west of Kalispell on West Reserve Drive (for 2 miles from the U.S. 93 intersection), then turning south on West Springcreek Road and going three-fourths of a mile to the entrance on the right.

Wednesday, July 21, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: The USEA Spalding Labs Young Event Horse Series gives owners and breeders the opportunity to showcase the potential of their four- and five-year-old horses. The USEA Future Event Horse Series focuses on yearlings, two-year-olds, and three-year-olds.
Thursday, July 22, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Dressage, all Fédération Equestre Internationale levels. Dressage, National Horse Trial Levels.
Friday, July 23, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Dressage, all FEI Levels. National Horse Trial Levels Dressage continues. Cross-country phase begins at 8 am. National Horse Trials Novice and Training Levels.
Saturday, July 24, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Cross-country phase all day. All FEI Levels. National Horse Trial Levels continue.
Sunday, July 25, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Show jumping phase, all levels. Awards ceremony at end of each division.
