Iverson sits 2nd in Men's State Am

BILLINGS — Larry Iverson of Kalispell shot a 3-under 69 on Thursday to move within a shot of the lead at the 93rd Montana State Men’s Amateur golf tournament at Yellowstone Country Club.

Iverson, 72-69—141, shares second place with Nathan Bailey of Forsyth, 70-71—141. Iverson, who will be a sophomore at the University of Washington,

was one of two players to share honors for having the best round of the day.

Brad Fox of Billings also shot 69. He opened with a 76 for a two-day total of 145. That’s good for fourth place.

 Bennett MacIntyre of Helena, 72-74—145, is fifth.

Charlie Von Arentschildt of Deer Lodge remains on top, 68-72—140. The 18-year-old golfer is competing in his first state am. He will attend Georgetown in the fall.

Grahm Schmaltz of Kalispell, 74-74—148, is ninth, and Shawn Tucker of Whitefish, 76-73—149, is tied for 10th.

Play continues today in the 72-hole event.
