A car that was stolen in Kalispell ended up in Foy’s Lake on Wednesday night.

The 1989 Honda was parked in a driveway on Bismark Street and left unlocked with an ignition key inside.

The car was recovered around 3 a.m. Thursday after being pushed or driven down the boat launch at Foy’s Lake. The unoccupied vehicle was almost totally submerged, with some fluids escaping into the lake.

Officers from the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, the Montana Highway Patrol, Kalispell Police and rural fired departments responded to the scene.

An investigation of the theft is under way; Kalispell Police urge anyone with information to call 758-7788.

The public is reminded that even vehicles parked in driveways should be locked and keys should not be left inside.
