Victor I. Chambers, 87

Victor I. Chambers, 87, of Anniston, Ala., passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center. A native of Sidney, Neb., Victor was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member, had been a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, where he served as a past president of the local chapter, was a member of the United Ostomy Association, and the BPOE Lodge 725 in Kalispell. He was an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Chambers; a son, Charles Chambers; daughters, Linda Dispense and Stephanie Watts; stepchildren, Robert Albreaux, Jeannette Cantrell, Caroline Eloe, Kathryn Schaad, Thomas Albro and Marcus Albreaux; 20 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives, Florence Van Aelstyn and Billie Kennedy Watts; a daughter, Donna Knudson; a grandson, Anthony Dispense; and brothers, Arthur, Charles and William Chambers. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Anniston, with Father Bryan Lowe officiating. Interment will follow at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney, Neb. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 26, at the church. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus.
