Power pole victim of drunk driver

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a sports car crashing into a power pole on Adams Street in Lakeside early Saturday, just after midnight. The vehicle was found unoccupied but the owner was soon located at his nearby residence and arrested for drunk driving.

A boyfriend and girlfriend were separated after a verbal disturbance on Frontage Road in the Columbia Falls area.

There was a report of three juveniles trying to get into a vehicle on Frontage Road near Columbia Falls. They were located, identified and transferred to the custody of their parents.

Saturday evening, there was a report of people fighting in a raft on the Swan River near Bigfork, with the reporting party saying that a man was witnessed striking a child, knocking him in the water. The floating party was located and it turned out to be a husband and wife who had been fighting with two children aboard. The man, 45, and the woman, 34, were both arrested for partner-family member assault.

There was a report of kids vandalizing a sign near a bridge on Shady Lane. The kids claimed they were “high fiving” the sign.

A car window was reported as broken on Sherry Lane.

Early Sunday, just after midnight, there was a report of a man kicking cars on U.S. 93 south of Whitefish.

A woman called and asked what to do about her dog coming home with a dead bat. The bat was picked up to be tested for rabies.

After a woman reported an assault involving her daughter in the Whitefish area, a teenage girl was arrested for partner-family member assault.

There was a report of an unwanted man refusing to leave a porch on Parliament Drive in the Evergreen area. It turned out to be a parental dispute.

A Rockwood Road resident reported that his wife had threatened to kill him. The parties involved were counseled.

A man, 48, was arrested for assault on a minor following an altercation with a boy, 13, at a residence on the 2100 block of U.S. 2.

Monday, just after midnight, someone called to report that some rafters had not returned as expected. The person called back about 45 minutes later to report that the missing rafters had returned.

After getting a report of suspicious people lurking around a department store in Evergreen, several juveniles were detained, identified and turned over to their parents.

Sunday night, a woman, 23, was arrested for criminal trespass at a residence on Liberty Street by Kalispell Police.

After a traffic stop on Second Avenue West and First Street West, a man, 20, was arrested for obstructing an officer and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Alarms

At about 11 a.m. Saturday, there was a report of a vehicle being on fire on Browns Meadow Road. Responding fire departments encountered an engulfed well-drilling rig, and it took about three hours to clear the scene.

The Somers-Lakeside Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire in Somers Sunday morning involving a sport utility vehicle that was fully engulfed in flames.
