Oteka Jane Mills 72

Oteka Jane Mills 72, of Lolo, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2010, at Riverside Health Care Center of cancer. She was born April 1, 1938, in Norton, Kan., to John Whiteman and Florence Rolland. She was adopted by her stepfather, WV Thomas, in 1947. They moved to Lolo in 1955. She received her education in Vancouver, Wash., and Missoula. On March 29, 1957, she married Robert G. Mills in Lolo. She worked as a homemaker, canning vegetables from the garden, making butter and jams, and the best darn cinnamon rolls ever. In her younger years she served as a 4-H leader and was active in the Lolo Saddle Club. She enjoyed her weekly senior get togethers and was a member of the Lolo Woman s Club. She also had a knack for crocheting afghans for anyone who wanted one. She enjoyed growing flowers and watching the neighboring farm animals. She will be missed by her family and friends. Survivors include four children, David and Tracy Mills of Eureka, Donna and Bob Franchuk of Lolo, Susan and Ray Montelius of Clinton, and Bobbi and Ron Stanton of Columbia Falls; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, plus two great-grandsons due to make an entrance in August 2010; sisters- in-law Marcella Smith, Darlene Mills and Licha Mills. Oteka was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sister. Joint interment with her sister, Donna, will take place on Saturday, Oct 9, at Florence Carlton Cemetery. No other services are planned, per Oteka s request.
