Andrews wins all-around title at District 5 Finals rodeo

Jake Andrews of Kalispell was named the all-around cowboy at the District 5 Finals High School Rodeo on Memorial weekend at Drummond.

Andrews topped the all-around standings with 23 points. Duston Stephens of Corvallis was second, 19, followed by Tyson Reese of Wisdon, 18, and Tucker Marquardt of Kalispell, 13.

Andrews finished second in calf roping, third in steer wrestling and teamed up with Marquardt to place fifth in team roping during the final performance on Monday.

During Sunday’s performance, Andrews placed fourth in steer wrestling and third in team roping with Marquardt.

Marquardt had a busy weekend, also placing fourth in steer wrestling on Monday and second in steer wrestling on Sunday.

Dillon Wilkinson of Whitefish had the top time in steer wrestling both days.

Matt Triplett of Columbia Falls was one of two cowboys to post a score in bull riding both days. He scored 65 on Monday, which was good for second place, and had the top ride on Sunday with a 73.

Jondie Rianda of Kalispell placed seventh and eighth in goat tying.

Lexi Bagnell of Polson earned second and eighth place finishes in pole bending.

Rebecca Lake of Polson finished fourth in goat tying and ninth in barrel racing.

Up next is the Montana High School State Rodeo in Bozeman June 10-13.
