BikeFish: a week devoted to two wheels

From June 7 through 13, Whitefish will celebrate its first BikeFish, a week dedicated to the bike and benefiting Fish Trails, the Whitefish pedestrian and bike-path network.

Join in for bike-to-work, bike trail tours, bike polo, a bike-in movie, children’s games, races and more. All events, except for the sanctioned races, are free to the public and open to all ages.

Events at a glance

Sunday, June 6: FishTrails 5K, City Beach

Monday through Friday: Bike to work/school with free coffee

Tuesday, June 8: Kick off at the Farmer’s Market, 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday, June 9: Fish Trails and Trail Runs Through It bike tours. Meet at Depot Park at 6 p.m. for Fish Trail tours. Grouse Mountain Tennis Courts for Trail Runs Through It tours.

Thursday, June 11: Fish Trails tours at 6 p.m.; Bike polo behind Whitefish Middle School at 6 p.m.

Friday, June 11: Fish Trails and Trail Runs Through It tours; bike-in-movie, “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure,  7 p.m., Stumptown Ice Den.

Saturday, June 12: Trail dedication; Kids’ bike rodeo and parade; Criterium time trial events start at Depot Park at 10 a.m. Criterium begins at noon. Contact Great Northern Cycles for information at 862-5321. 

Raffle drawing at Depot Park. Tickets are $5 each or three for $10 and available at the Parks Department or from any Fish Trails committee member. All proceeds go toward building and maintaining the bike/pedestrian trails in Whitefish. Some of the raffle items include a cruiser bike, Specialized road bike, a kayak and golf passes.

Sunday, June 13: Circuit race; Pig Farm bike tour — meet at Grouse Mountain tennis courts at noon.

Fish Trails is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing safe, accessible and scenic trails that connect people and places in our community.
