Man starts fire too close to own barn

A woman called Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies after her husband, who had been drinking, apparently started a bonfire close to the barn around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The man went to a motel for the rest of the night.

Deputies did not locate the subjects seen stopping along Dawson Trail and shooting into the distance Sunday evening.

Locating the two teens panhandling near a box store on U.S. 2 East around 9 p.m. Sunday, deputies advised them to go home.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office handled the six black cows seen in the middle of Montana 28 Sunday night.

A man called deputies around 10:30 p.m. Sunday and asked for a ride from a Somers hotel. When deputies informed him they didn’t perform this service, he apparently became angry and caused a disturbance. Deputies intervened and asked him to move on.

The intoxicated man yelling in the McGregor Lake campground was gone when deputies arrived around 11 p.m. Sunday.

Six underage kids were issued MIPs at a party Sunday night, where they were apparently lighting fireworks and knocking on doors in the Winter Loop area.

Around 2 a.m. Monday, people were seen throwing beer bottles from a vehicle as it drove along U.S. 2. Deputies later caught up with the suspects and arrested a woman for probation violation.

Responding to a report of two intoxicated men fighting at a Welf Lane residence early Monday, deputies arrested one man for criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

Detention officers broke up a fight between two inmates at the county jail.

There was a report of a tool box being left open on a truck, and potentially spilling tools on Reserve Drive near Glacier High School.

A Pioneer Road resident reported that sometime over the last months, a wood stove had been stolen.

There was a report of a possible burglary at a home under construction on Morning Glory Lane, but it was unclear if anything was taken.

Deputies are investigating a report from three people on motorcycles who claim a man in a van tried to drive them off West Valley Drive and at one point pulled a gun on them.

Deputies received 147 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Sunday and 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Kalispell Police got a report Sunday night of two kids in hoodies who kicked a soccer ball through a window at Peterson Elementary School. They were located, and the principal was notified.

There was a report of someone waving at cars and acting strange near a business on Reserve Drive.

Officers assisted in calming a combative man at the Kalispell Regional Medical Center emergency room.

A disoriented man who was being abrasive toward guests at a hotel on First Avenue East was told to move on.

There was a report of a back window being broken out of a vehicle on Hawthorn Avenue.

A husband and wife were counseled after a disturbance at a Liberty Street residence.

A clerk at a convenience store on U.S. 93 South reported that a man walked off with a large can of beer.

Responding to a suspicious person report on Third Avenue East, a man, 20, was arrested for criminal trespass.

Monday morning, there was a report of a dead squirrel being found in a receptacle at the Flathead County Library.

Officers received 71 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Sunday and 2:30 p.m. Monday.

Columbia Falls Police got a criminal mischief report Monday morning involving signs and garbage cans being vandalized, along with graffiti on buildings and vehicles, at Pinewood Park.

There was a report of a purse being stolen from a vehicle on 11th Street West.

There was a report of a backpack being stolen from a vehicle on Fourth Avenue West.

A business on U.S. 2 reported the theft of a radio.

A man, 36, turned himself in at the police station on a felony probation violation warrant out of Idaho.

Officers received 25 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Sunday and 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Alarms

There was a fire alarm at Glacier Park International Airport Monday, but it turned out to be burned food in the terminal.

Three Rivers Ambulance, Kalispell Ambulance and Whitefish Ambulance were dispatched to a “T-bone” crash involving two vehicles on U.S. 2 near Glacier Park International Airport Monday afternoon. At one point, it appeared possibly nine people needed to be transported, but according to the Montana Highway Patrol, only five were transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center and none were seriously injured.
