The Class A Kalispell Lakers cleaned up their defense and got back on track with a Western A conference sweep of the Libby Loggers at home on Tuesday.

Sid Schenck finished the day with three RBIs for Kalispell and George Sherwood picked up his first of two saves in the 4-2 opening-game win.

In the nightcap, Kalispell jumped ahead 3-0 after three innings and Sherwood and Co. held off a rally by the Loggers to preserve a 3-2 victory.

Kalispell improved to 14-16 overall and 3-3 in conference.

“We’ve been struggling a little bit in conference and struggling defensively but we were able to make some plays tonight behind our pitchers,” Lakers coach Pat Conners said. “We had it all going.”
