A two-vehicle collision killed a motorcyclist along U.S. 2 north of Glacier Park International Airport on Thursday morning.

The vehicles collided in the northbound lane and the man died on impact or very close to it, according to Geno Cook, who acted as coroner for the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.

Cook said the victim was wearing a helmet.

The 56-year-old Nevada man’s name has not yet been released pending notification of his family.

The motorcycle was heading northbound on U.S. 2 around 10:30 a.m. Thursday when a Ford Taurus pulled out from Jellison Road onto the highway into the motorcycle’s path, according to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Bob Hensley.

“It was a basic right-of-way violation,” Hensley said. “The car pulled out and didn’t see him.”

He said the crash still is under investigation and no citations have yet been issued, but added that neither speed nor alcohol contributed to the collision.
