Man accused of sexually assaulting 5-year-old girl

Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 21-year-old man for sexual intercourse without consent after he allegedly assaulted a friend’s 5-year-old daughter. The girl’s father told deputies the man had been visiting the home Saturday night and went down a hallway to use the restroom twice in short succession. The father said he became suspicious and checked on the suspect, and found him in the child’s bedroom allegedly assaulting her at that time. The sheriff’s office got the report just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

Three girls were reported walking along U.S. 2 between Martin City and the upper dam road Saturday evening, yelling at cars. They were gone when deputies showed up.

Two brothers having a tiff at a hotel near Glacier National Park were called in by a third party Saturday night. One was arrested on warrants out of Helena.

Friendship was strained between two men arguing over who was supposed to be keeping an eye on a trailer along Frontage Road outside Columbia Falls. Deputies talked with them.

Two people shining a flashlight on the south side of St. Matthew’s School apparently turned it off and left or hid in the area when officers came looking for them about 9:30 p.m.

Having an open container in a vehicle was reason for arrest of a 23-year-old man about 9:30 p.m. Saturday at a theater complex in north Kalispell. Just before 2 a.m., an employee at the theaters reported a man who smelled of alcohol was in the lobby trying to pick a fight with others in the building. He left in a pickup before anyone was assaulted.

A 14-year-old girl was arrested at Depot Park for possession of tobacco products.

On Fifth Avenue West North, someone reported being in an argument early Sunday with a 29-year-old man who, an hour and a half later, was arrested on a warrant and had his suspended sentence for partner or family member assault revoked.

Columbia Falls police cited a 14-year-old boy after he allegedly took an employee’s purse from a vehicle parked at a restaurant casino on U.S. 2 West. The restaurant owner reportedly held the suspect until police arrived.

Whitefish police separated a boyfriend and girlfriend for the night after they argued at a home on Duff Lane. He reportedly was outside yelling and screaming, while she had locked herself inside with the children.

A canoe was stolen from Whitefish Lake Friday or Saturday, according to a report from Luge Lane.

A guy singing on the sidewalk next to his open guitar case on Central Avenue prompted a call from someone who thought it was suspicious behavior.

Somers Fire Department and Northwest Energy officials were notified after somebody on Klondyke Loop hit a gas line. The line was pinched shut soon after being hit.

Evergreen ambulance took a woman from a U.S. 2 East casino to Kalispell Regional Medical Center after she allegedly passed out in the restroom and got a large gash on her forehead.
