Any track meet without rain involved is being considered a success this spring, but even by the traditional standard, Flathead had a successful day on Tuesday.

The Bravettes had a winner in all but five events while the Braves turned in eight first-place finishes on the way to a hometown sweep in a triangular meet with Missoula Hellgate and Sentinel at Legends Stadium on a cold, but rainless afternoon.

Tess Brenneman, Kwyn Johnson and Jaclyn Rauthe each won two individual events as the Bravettes piled up 97.5 points. Brenneman won the 100 (12.98) and high jump (5-0), surpassing state qualifying marks in both, and ran on the winning 1,600 relay team with Johnson, who won the 300 hurdles (48.16) and triple jump (34-6). Rauthe won both the 200 (27.94) and 400 (1:03.19) and ran on the winning 400 relay team.

Sierra Maxwell had a come-from-behind victory in the 3,200 (12:25), Cera Lau had the best throw in shot put (32-10), Katrina Cabanilla won javelin (106-3) and Cassie Krueger won long jump (15-7 1/2).

George Sherwood was victorious in both sprints and ran a leg on the boys winning 400 and 1,600 relay teams and the Braves tallied 92 team points. Sherwood clocked 11.54 in the 100 and 23.28 in the 200.

Reigning state champion Jesse Bennett returned to the track after battling illness most of the season and won the 800 in 2:01.62, which gives him an automatic bid to the state meet. Dominic Eickert also qualified for state after winning the pole vault in 13-3. Leif Castren took the 3,200 (9:53) and Braxton Nimmick had the top throw in discus (132-8).
