Flathead shortstop Casey Roylston just misses the ball at second base during the first crosstown softball game with Glacier on Thursday at the Conrad Complex.

It was close last time.

The Glacier Wolfpack needed a game-winning hit from Kendra Bouley to beat the Flathead Bravettes in the Western AA conference game on April 23.

The Wolfpack remembered.

It wasn't close on Thursday. Glacier (16-3, 10-2) rolled past Flathead, 10-0 and 14-1 at the Conrad Complex.

"We hit the ball today.

"They were real relaxed and they were real focused, every one of them," said Glacier coach Joel Bemis.

"I think it was the crosstown atmosphere. They were pumped for it. It was like they were all just on a mission - and they were having fun," he added.

"They knew Flathead played us well last time. Our girls were kind of expecting the same thing," Bemis said.

It all started with a leadoff walk in the second inning.

Zoey Pettit walked on four straight pitches. Bryttani Knopp singled behind her.

Flathead got the next two batters to fly out to third and second base. But Anna Costa plated them both with the first of her two doubles.

That got things going for Glacier. It added five more runs in the third and three in the fourth.

Costa led the Wolfpack offense, batting 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs. Zoey Pettit was 3-for-3 with three RBIs as well.

"That's the kind of stuff we ask our seniors to do, to lead by action. It's neat to see," Bemis said of Pettit.

"Our senior leadership this week ... a lot of those girls were great in practice. Their experience really showed through," he said.

Kendra Bouley got the win in the first game. She gave up four hits, struck out five, and had no walks. Jessie Compton won the second game.

"Our two pitchers threw real well. They gave up some hits and they didn't strike out a lot of people, but they each just stayed solid and did their job," the coach said.

The Wolfpack played solid defense behind them - it turned its second double play of the season and had just one error for the day.

"The pitching was good, the offense was good, the defense behind the pitching was good," he added.

"I like how we're playing right now," Bemis said.
