Polson girls, Corvallis boys ABC Invitational track champs

POLSON — The Polson girls and Corvallis boys came away victorious on Saturday at the ABC Invitational track meet.

Led by double-winner Loni Havlovick, the Pirates totaled 148 points. Havlovick won the shot put and discus and took second in javelin. Teammate Nicole Davey won the pole vault and was runner-up in the 400 and 300 hurdles. Davey’s runner-up 400 time (58.90) would have been the fastest in Class A before Hamilton’s Misha Trotter won with 58.79.

Derrick Williams was tops in both the boys 1,600 and 800, and Columbia Falls finished second with 109 points. Williams clocked 4:29.48 in the 1,600, which is just a second off the fastest time in Class A.

The Whitefish short relay neared Class A’s top time (44.28) with a 44.32. Whitefish athletes winning events were: Amanda Foley (200), Carly Schwickert (800, Olivia Nagler (javelin) and Iaian Cameron (400).

Whitefish’s girls were third with 78 points.

Corvallis’ Austin Landis posted the top mark in the javelin (213-5) for all classes statewide.
