Valkyries capture Western B-C division title in tennis
BIGFORK — Bigfork captured the Western B-C girls divisional tennis title on Saturday, and in the process qualified all eight players for the upcoming state tournament.
The Valkyries, led by singles champ Jade Bosic and doubles winners Hannah Barrett and Claire Wilken, scored 57 points.
Eureka was a distant second with 26.
Advancing with Bosic to state in singles for Bigfork are Carolina Tietzel, McKinze Shults and Emily Hardman. They finished third, fourth and sixth, respectively.
Moving on in doubles with Barrett and Wilken are Ariel Stallknecht and Kianna Wicklund, who finished fourth.
The top six in singles and top four in doubles advance.
Eureka qualified two girls in singles, runner-up Casey Armstrong and Karina Hofstee, who finished fifth.
Bosic defeated Armstrong in the title match 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5).
The Class B-C state tournament begins Thursday in Missoula.
All boys automatically qualify for state.
