Cig-fishing ends in stick-hitting

Seeing a transient fishing out cigarettes from an ashtray in front of a Third Avenue East North grocery, an employee asked what he was doing. The man apparently began yelling obscenities and hit the employee with a stick, then took off. Kalispell Police located the suspect near a car center on Third Avenue East North, but as officers approached, he apparently attempted to grab a stick. The man was arrested for assault with a weapon around 11 a.m. Saturday. The employee did not need medical attention.

Believing a neighbor was using an illegal parking permit and wondering if a camper trailer was parked illegally, a Second Avenue West resident called police at 3:15 p.m. Friday. Officers determined the issue was a neighbor dispute, not a parking problem.

Officers were unable to locate the injured duck spotted in Woodland Park around 5 p.m. Friday.

Around 5:30 p.m. Friday, a neighbor kid apparently threw a rock at a car parked in front of a Fifth Avenue West  residence and chipped a window. The child was counseled.

Around 8:30 p.m. at a Kalispell department store, a woman apparently grabbed a bunch of clothes and took off. She was last seen heading westbound on Center Street. Officers are investigating.

A Birchwood Court resident apparently destroyed a neighbor’s barbecue grill, then almost hit the neighbor with his vehicle as he sped away around 9 p.m. Friday. Officers counseled the neighbor, who was advised to call back if the suspect returned.

A woman reported that an ex-employee was apparently making threats to blow up her residence. Officers are investigating.

Officers arrested a 29-year-old man for disorderly conduct, obstructing a peace officer, criminal trespass and warrants around 11 p.m. Friday after he was reportedly pushing customers at a Airport Road bar, yelling obscenities and refusing to leave.

Unknowns attempted to break all of the windows in a Sherry Lane residence, a resident reported at 10:37 a.m. Saturday.

Officers received 93 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies were alerted to a soon-to-happen underage party after reading a post on a social networking website about the “major double kegger” slated for Saturday night in the Ashley Lake area.

A man apparently beat a woman during an argument outside a Cemetery Road residence around 4 p.m. Friday. Deputies separated the two and will file a report on the incident. Kalispell Ambulance was called but the woman refused medical transport.

A man apparently videotaped a woman in the parking lot of a Marion post office around 5 p.m. Friday, then approached her, telling her he knew where she lived and that he was a fugitive.

The woman heard screaming for help in the Beaver Lake area around 11 p.m. Friday was gone when deputies arrived.

Kids were seen messing with boats along Blacktail Road around 1 a.m. Saturday, but ran away when they saw an adult.

Many mailboxes in the Church Drive area were vandalized Friday night.

Deputies received 146 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Although it appeared people were camping on a shooting range around 10 p.m. Friday, it turned out they were on church property nearby.

Whitefish Police cited two pedestrians for having open containers along Central Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

A mother was accused of slapping her daughter in the face at a Tenth Avenue West residence around 4 p.m. Friday. Columbia Falls Police are investigating.

A 2-year-old child needed eight stitches after a Great Pyrenees/Newfoundland mix dog bit him at a Dawn Drive residence. The owner apparently plans to take the animal to the shelter to be quarantined.

As he walked his dog along Main Street around 10 p.m., a man was jumped by two other men. He was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

After its tire blew out, a vehicle went about 100 feet off the roadway in the McGregor Lake Campground area around 8:20 p.m. Friday. Marion Fire Department transported someone to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
