Evelyn LaRene Mayer King, 89

Evelyn LaRene Mayer King was born Feb. 24, 1921, in Round Butte and died Tuesday, May 18, 2010, in Missoula. Evelyn lived in Montana her entire life. Montana was part of who she was. Raised in Pablo, she went to the local elementary school and to Ronan High School. She moved to Missoula in 1939, to attend the University of Montana (then known as Montana State University), graduating with a degree in journalism in 1943. She married Colie King, an Army Air Force cadet from Seattle, in 1944. After Colie s death in 1975, she remained single until meeting and marrying Dick Moore in 1991. Evelyn was preceded in death by her father, Frank Mayer; mother, Ethel Hiltbruner Mayer Harley; brother, Wallace Mayer; stepfather, Earl Harley; her husband of 31 years, Coleman E. King; and her granddaughter, Larissa Coleen Haarr. She is survived by her husband of nearly 19 years, Richard T. Moore; her children, Karen Haarr and Loren, of Kalispell, Sally King and Alan Westhagen, of Seattle, Patrick King, of Missoula, Colette King, of Missoula, and Tony King and Tricia, of Kalispell; Dick s children, Richard and Ruth, and Kenneth; her grandchildren, Lars Haarr, Jennifer King Westhagen and Andrew Ernst, Coley King and Davonna, Kaycee King, Amy King Westhagen, Steven King, Tessa King, Lindsey Moore, Devin Moore, Stacey Marie Amrine and Mark, Peter Westhagen and Suzanna, and Jon Westhagen; and a multitude of Missoulian associates, neighbors and friends. There will be a celebration of Evelyn s life at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at the Missoula Senior Center, 705 S. Higgins Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to an organization dear to Evelyn s heart, Nine Pipes Museum of Early Montana, 69316 U.S. Highway 93, Charlo, MT 59824.
