Recent weather conditions have changed some public road access on Flathead National Forest.

All travelers are encouraged to plan ahead and drive with caution.

Road work on the first 11 miles of the West-side Hungry Horse Reservoir Road has been suspended for the winter and the road is open to public access.

Road work will resume in the spring and the first 11 miles of the road will be closed again at that time.

Beginning Monday, Nov. 22, Forest Road 2904 on the Tally Lake Ranger District will be closed to public access Monday through Friday, and open on weekends and federal holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s).

The road will be plowed for timber hauling only. Snowmobile traffic is not allowed on this road.

The road is located north of Star Meadows and west of Tally Lake.

Road work on the Jewel Basin Road is completed for the season and the road is open for public access.

Work will resume in the spring and the road will be closed again at that time.
