No asbestos was found during hazardous material testing conducted at Glacier National Park’s headquarters, according to a press release from the park.

Employees relocated from headquarters Nov. 18 after it was determined that materials had not been tested prior to the start of construction.

With tests complete, employees are still expected to use alternative offices until the completion of a heating, ventilating and air conditioning project, according to the release.

Trace amounts of asbestos and lead were found in three areas of the building not disturbed by construction, but the material isn’t hazardous unless it becomes airborne.

Visitors can get park information at the Apgar Visitor Center near Lake McDonald. Until the headquarters building reopens, the visitor center will be open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
