An 18-year-old Polson man is in jail after police say he stabbed his mother’s 32-year-old boyfriend to death early Saturday morning.

Polson Assistant Police Chief John Stevens said police responded to a call at an apartment on B Avenue in Polson at about 6:40 a.m. after a 911 call from inside the home.

When officers arrived they found a dead man in the apartment. The man had sustained multiple stab wounds, Stevens said.

Stevens said the 18-year-old was arrested at the apartment where he lived with the victim and his mother. Two other people were in the apartment when officers arrived, he said.

The names of the suspect and the victim have not been released.

The 18-year-old is expected to be charged with deliberate homicide. The investigation will likely be forwarded to the Lake County Attorney’s Office by Monday, Stevens said.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Confederated Salish Kootenai Police department assisted Polson police.
