BIGFORK - Senior Caitlin Charlebois scored two more goals at home and the Bigfork Valkyries picked up a must-win Northern A girls soccer victory.

Charlebois scored two goals in two minutes midway through the first half and McKinze Shults added a second-half score as Bigfork defeated Libby 3-0 on senior night Thursday to keep playoff hopes alive with two games left.

Charlebois now has a league-best 12 goals.

"The whole team stepped up for the seniors I thought," Bigfork coach Charlie Appleby said. "They jumped all over Libby at the start and defensively I've never seen us so strong to the ball. They were not allowing shots ... It was a beautiful game out of Bigfork."

With two regular-season games left, Bigfork (2-5 in conference, 3-7 overall) needed the win to still have a chance for third place in Northern A, which means a trip to postseason play.

The Vals play at Polson next Thursday in the Northern A regular-season finale before facing Stillwater Christian that Friday.

Libby hosts Columbia Falls at 11 a.m. this Saturday.
