Joanne Carol Barrie, 58, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, after a courageous nine-month battle with cancer. Joanne was born March 27, 1952, in Aberdeen, S.D., the only child of George and Wilma Faeth. Joanne lived in South Dakota, Minnesota and Arkansas before moving to Kalispell in 1968. She graduated from Flathead High School in 1970, where she met her lifelong love, Lloyd Barrie. Joanne and Lloyd were married in July of 1972 and moved to Bozeman to continue college studies. In 1974 she returned to Kalispell for the birth of their son, Matthew. Joanne postponed her studies for 25 years to stay at home as a nurturing mother to Matt, Rachel and Elise. In the mid-1990s, she returned to the University of Great Falls to complete her B.A. in psychology and her masters of psychological counseling in 2000. Joanne established Cross-Life Counseling services and touched many lives over the past 10 years. Joanne s deep love and devotion to Christ not only led her into the counseling ministry, but also bore fruit through her ministries within the body of Christ at Bread of Life. Ever dedicated to her brothers and sisters in Christ, her service in worship, fellowship and discipleship were a constant encouragement and source of strength for her church family. Joanne enjoyed traveling with her family; trips across Europe, train adventures on the Empire Builder, and especially the beaches of Florida, where she delighted in searching for seashells. Cooking was a demonstration of love for Joanne. Family and friends enjoyed many memorable dinners in her home. She also treasured evening walks with Lloyd through the east side of Kalispell and weekly pinochle games with friends. Joanne is survived by her parents, George and Wilma Faeth of Nampa, Idaho; husband, Lloyd Barrie of Kalispell; son, Matthew of Kalispell; daughter, Rachel and son-in-law, Travis Steindorf, of Kalispell; daughter, Elise of Missoula; and grandchildren, Adam, Jasper and Grace, whom she dearly loved. She is also survived by her aunt, Pat Faeth of Aberdeen, S.D.; and cousin, Duane and Darlene Robinson of Miller, S.D. A celebration of life service for Joanne will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. A reception will follow at Bread of Life Church, 544 Fifth Ave. W., Kalispell. Friends are encouraged to visit the website www.buffalohillfh.com to leave notes of condolence and support for the family. Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is caring for the family.
