Franklin D. Richmond, 90

Franklin D. Richmond passed away in his home in Hawthorne, Calif., on Oct. 3, 2010. Frank was born Aug. 22, 1920, in Forest Grove to Cynthia and Arthur Richmond and was raised in Somers. He graduated from Flathead County High School in 1938, worked at the Somers Tie Plant, and ventured to California in 1939 with Rico Cash and Leonard McIntyre securing employment in the aircraft industry. Frank married Matilda Tillie May in 1942 in California. Frank was a Purple Heart recipient in World War II and a proud father of his two sons, Laurence and Roger Richmond. Frank worked for 44 years for Northrop Corporation and was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Tillie, in 2000. Frank is survived by one brother, Russ Richmond, of Ypsilanti, Mich.; and his two sons, Laurence of Manhattan Beach, Calif., and Roger and his wife, Janet, of The Dalles, Ore.; two grandchildren, Tami Richmond of Fort Worth, Texas, and Crystal and husband Shane Skinner of Bozeman; and five great-grandchildren. His positive spirit and pure unbridled honesty will be missed by all who knew him. We miss you, Dad. Services that will celebrate his life will be scheduled at a later date.
