James William Cherry, 84

James William Cherry, 84, passed away at Kalispell Regional Medical Center on Oct. 2, 2010. James was born Sept. 2, 1926, in Pocatello, Idaho. He grew up in both Idaho and Wyoming, graduating from Cheyenne Senior High. He then went on to Colorado State College in Greely, Colo., and then to the University of Northern Colorado in Greely where he recieved his Bachelor of Arts degree. James served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1947. He then was commissioned and returned and served from 1950 to 1951. James worked as a certified public accountant for the Wyoming National Bank, Frontier Refining Company, Husky Oil Company and, finally, St. Vincent s Hospital, from which he retired. James was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fishing, watching baseball and football, family geneology, spending time on his computer and visiting with family members. In 1963 he married Betty Corbett in Cheyenne, Wyo. James was preceded in death by his parents, William B. and Mary (McClellan) Cherry. He is survived by his daughters, Cindy Burton and husband Richard, and Tammy Olberding; grandchildren, Lindsay, Alyssa, Casey, Josh, Jake and wife Andi, Jeff and wife Tiffany, Jenna and Jacey; as well as six great-grandchildren. Visitation for James will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. today, Oct. 7, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13, at the Immanuel Lutheran Home. Burial will be held in Salt Lake City. Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is caring for the family.
