The building that formerly housed Barley’s Restaurant in Kalispell has some new tenants.

Terry Anderson, who owned Barley’s for 35 years, recently closed the business and expanded his other business, Silverado Casino.

Asian Buffet, Cellular One and Jackson-Hewitt then moved into the building.

“I figured it was enough after 35 years,” Anderson said, noting he did not want to sign another lease for the restaurant.

Silverado Casino relocated inside the building on the northeast corner of Main and Idaho streets.

The casino added new games, a new player reward system and has a “new atmosphere and more space,” Anderson said. “We give customers more attention.”

Decor now is contemporary Western. The casino also has its own restrooms, he said, noting they were shared with Barley’s previously.

Asian Buffet, formerly known as King Buffet, recently relocated from 130 W. Idaho St. to the new location a few blocks east.

Asian Buffet, owned by Nick Zheng, offers Chinese and Japanese food, including sushi.

Although its name and location have changed, Asian Buffet is on plan of compliance with the health department after inspection grades of C+ and C- when it was operating as King Buffet.

Asian Buffet is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Mr. Tux, a tuxedo rental business, went out of business and the armed forces recruiting station moved to a building north of the new Walmart in north Kalispell.

That created space for the change in businesses.

Owner Tom Kula opened Cellular One on July 30. It is the second Cellular One location in the Kalispell area; the other is at U.S. 2 and Reserve Drive in Evergreen.

Jackson-Hewitt, also owned by Kula, relocated in May from one block away on Oregon Street. The tax service shares an office with Cellular One on the east end of the building.

“We have the best rates,” said Karman Townsend, Cellular One wireless consultant.

Cellular One is owned by Blackfoot Communications, which purchased the Cellular One name from Alltel some years ago after Alltel bought Cellular One, she said.

Cellular One can be reached at 756-1212, ext. 3200.
