George Sirucek, 72

George Sirucek, 72, of Leader, Minn., passed away at the Pine River Good Samaritan Home on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010. A funeral service is planned for noon Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Motley Free Methodist Church, with a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. George was born on June 18, 1938, to Emil and Rosie (Kasala) Sirucek, in Wendell, Idaho. He grew up and attended school in Montana. He went to work in a sawmill at the age of 11, and worked in the logging industry for 29 years. George bought his first ranch in 1963. On March 7, 1964, he was married to Marjorie Parrish, in Swan River, Mont., and their marriage was blessed with two children. He and Marjorie moved to Leader in 1978, where they farmed and milked cows until 1986. They then raised beef cattle until retiring in 2000. He also worked for 18 years with the Minnesota Dairy Herd Improvement Association. He was a member of the Cattleman s Association and the Farmer s Union. He is survived by his children, John and Peggy of Leader, and Jimmy and Donnell of Leader; grandchildren, Emil and Amanda, Jacob, Rosie, Clayton and Dallas; great-granddaughter, Nevaeh; brothers, Edgar and Carolla, Carl and Norma, and Donnie and Denise; sisters, Rubie Smith, Marie Reed, Betty Ferry, and Genevieve and Art Baumer; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; his parents; brothers, Jack, Bill and Emil; and sisters, Agnes and Shirley. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
