Julio Constantine Carou, 57, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer, passed away peacefully Oct. 9, 2010, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Julio was born March 31, 1953, one of six children born to Jose Valdes Beltran (now deceased) and Josefa Carou Alvarez, in Carballino (municipality in Galicia, province of Orense), Spain. He grew up in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, where he finished his studies. He moved to Chicago March 31, 1976, where he met Blanca Marckwordt. They were married on Nov. 19, 1977. In Chicago, he worked at Weil Pump Company as a CNC machinist for 16 years. Growing up in Spain, his father had taught him the art of fly fishing. Because of his passion for fly fishing, he moved to Augusta, Mont., in 1993 and immediately he knew he was home. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying fly fishing, bird hunting and game hunting. He worked at Semitool in Kalispell for 10 years. He is survived by his mother, Josefa Carou Alvarez; his beloved wife of over 33 years, Blanca Marckwordt; and his beloved daughter, Josephine Bianca. Julio will forever be remembered by his loving sister, Maria Jesus and Manolo; brothers, Jose and Geni, Juan, Suso and Camilo; caring in-laws, Marlen and Jorge, Bitty and Tito, Flor and Jorge, Lizi and Raul; along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know him. Julio touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Julio loved listening to Pink Floyd, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and, most of all, being with his family. Memorial services for Julio will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Johnson - Gloschat Funeral Chapel. There will also be a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 15, at the Montana Wilderness School of the Bible in Augusta. The family requests all donations be sent to the wonderful people who gave such wonderful care for Julio in his time of need at Home Options Hospice, 430 Windward Way, No. 101, Kalispell, MT 59901.
