WHITEFISH - The plan coming in for Whitefish was to stop Columbia Falls' sensational running back Nate Thompson.

Trouble is, Columbia Falls quarterback Austin Barth and wide receiver Kaleb Johnson picked up the slack. Barth threw six touchdown passes - four to Johnson (41, 4, 41 and 40 yards) - as the Wildcats rolled to a 51-0 victory over Northwestern A football rival Whitefish.

Thompson did find the end zone twice in the contest, but both times from short range - 7 and 5 yards.

Barth also had a 26-yard touchdown pass to Dan Busick and a 5-yard toss to Devyn Rocker to complete the scoring.

Columbia Falls (4-3 and 3-0) led 33-0 after the opening quarter.

"They're good," Whitefish coach Chad Ross said of Columbia Falls.

"He (Thompson) didn't get 200 yards, but they beat us everywhere else."

Thompson came into the contest leading the league in rushing with 1,372 yards on 163 carries.

No Columbia Falls stats were available.

Whitefish quarterback Connor Donahue was 12 for 28 passing for 103 yards. Jeremy Nielsen had 36 yards rushing on seven attempts for the Bulldogs.

Columbia Falls concludes regular-season

play on Friday at home versus Ronan. This was the final game of the season for Whitefish (1-7, 0-4).

"At least they didn't quit," WHS coach Chad Ross said of his players.

"They came out every week, they had a great attitude. Hopefully that will turn into experience and experience will turn into victories next year."
