Loggers pull out soccer win in overtime

HAMILTON - Libby won a thrilling playoff opener in overtime, scoring twice to edge Hamilton in a Class A boys match on Saturday.

Cree Maloney tied the game at 1-all with three minutes left in regulation and Ricardo Maceas and Talus Martin put in the overtime scores for the Loggers, who will host Livingston on Saturday in semifinal play.

LIVINGSTON - Travis Pattengale scored the game-winning goal at 78 minutes to advance Livingston to semifinal play.

Cody Ling tied the match for Whitefish at 60 minutes.

"The guys can hold their heads high after the game. They left it all on the field today," Whitefish coach O'Brien Byrd said.

The Bulldogs finish with a record of 6-5-2.

POLSON - Jon Heutmaker scored the game-winning goal in the 76th minute for Polson.

Heutmaker put the goal in off an assist from Jonathan Murphy and the Pirates will host Belgrade in the semifinals on Saturday.

Trevor Moll had Polson's first goal off an assist from Sean Hart in the 15th minute.

Columbia Falls 1

HAMILTON - Hamilton scored three times in the span of six minutes in the opening half to defeat Columbia Falls and move on to semifinal action.

Maria Zepeda scored at 16 and 22 minutes and Kelsey Brangoccio found the net at 20 minutes.

Columbia Falls' goal came at 64 minutes off the foot of McKenzie Kiser.

"It was a little bit disappointing," Columbia Falls coach Greg Trenerry said.

"We didn't bring it (a W) back home."

Trenerry said the Wildcats played well for the first 15 minutes

"They hardly had the ball," he said.

"Then they capitalized. It happens.

"The second half, we won," Trenerry added.

"But that's not enough."

Both teams came into the match with 10-2-0 records.

"We'll be back next year," Trenerry said. "We have a good, strong team. We only lose two seniors (Niesha Thompson and Elena Potter)."
