Braves open soccer playoff action today

State tournament hopes for Flathead's boys soccer team begin with a road trip today to Helena.

The Western AA playoff matchup pits the No. 7 seed Braves against No. 2 seed Helena High (9-0-3).

The game is set for 4 p.m.

The winner advances to the Class AA state tournament in Great Falls Oct. 28-30.

Helena High has posted seven shutouts this season, two coming against Flathead (0-12). The Bengals beat FHS 5-0 and 4-0, but the Bengals led just 1-0 at the half in both outings.

Flathead wrapped up

regular-season action on Saturday, falling 2-0 to Missoula Big Sky.

Helena High also played Saturday, downing Glacier 2-0 in Helena.

Glacier (3-8-1) is also on the road for playoff action. The Wolfpack travels to Missoula to face No. 3 seed Hellgate on Thursday at 4 p.m. The Knights have won both matches versus Glacier to date, 1-0 and 4-0.
