A Kalispell woman has been charged with felony assault with a weapon after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend in the arm during an argument.

Kandice Rochelle Tellegen was arrested by the Kalispell Police Department Oct. 15 after she allegedly wielded a knife during an argument with Vance Pope at a shared storage unit on the 2600 block on U.S. 2 East.

Pope called police at about 5:30 p.m. and Tellegen was taken into custody about an hour later.

According to court documents, Tellegen and Pope were going through items at the storage unit when they became embroiled in an argument.

Tellegen allegedly took a knife out of her pocket and attempted to attack him. Pope fled to a nearby vehicle, at which point Tellegen is accused of stabbing him in his left arm. She allegedly attempted to stab him twice more while he was in the vehicle, according to court documents.

Pope refused medical treatment, according to a police report.

Tellegen has since been released from the Flathead County Detention Center pending an arraignment.

The Flathead County Attorney’s office filed the felony charge in District Court Oct. 18.

The maximum penalty for assault with a weapon is 20 years in prison and fine of $50,000.
