Robert Bellmore, or better known by his friends as Uncle Bob, was born in Woods Bay on Oct. 8, 1919, and passed way on Oct. 12, 2010, in the company of his friends and the staff at the Columbia Falls Veterans Home. Bob was very appreciative of the care that he had received at the Veterans Home. He was very proud of his military service in the motor pool in the South Pacific and spoke of it often. Though he never married, he had many friends in the Bigfork and Woods Bay area. Bob Bellmore was known for his extensive knowledge of the Woods Bay area and the east shore of Flathead Lake. Though he lived a simple life, he was very generous with what he had. He loved to hunt elk and deer, and would climb the mountains just to see if the huckleberries were ripe yet. His wonderful neighbors would often give him a ride to town and back, and he thought of many of them as family. Bob is survived by his three sisters, Opal Campbell of Missoula, Marian Coe of Lebanon, Wash., and Carol Hueter of Napa, Calif.; and numerous nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Nov. 5, at the Columbia Falls Veterans Home chapel.
