Senior stops Glacier in AA state soccer
GREAT FALLS - Alex Erickson scored on a penalty kick 16 minutes into play and Kyle Emerich added another goal with three minutes left in the opening half as Billings Senior blanked Glacier 2-0 on Thursday in Class AA boys state soccer play.
It was an opening-round match for both teams.
"Senior moved the ball pretty well," Glacier coach Ryan O'Rourke said.
"I thought our defense played a very strong game.
"Late in the first half, our offense started to pick up," O'Rourke added.
"We put a shot off the post."
O'Rourke said the Wolfpack stayed on the offensive in the second half, "we just couldn't put it into the back of the net."
Senior outshot Glacier 18-8 on goal, and led in corner kicks 4-2.
Sean Peters had 10 keeper saves for the Wolfpack.
Glacier (4-9-1) drops into a loser-out match today at 11:30 a.m. versus Bozeman.
