Ted A. Main, 65, beloved husband, father and brother, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at his home in Kalispell. He was born on Oct. 26, 1945, in Kalispell, the eighth child of nine to Kenneth and Thelma (Goertz) Main. The family lived at the Main Dairy on Three Mile Drive. Ted attended Russell School and graduated from Flathead High School. After a short time working for Buttrey Foods, he joined the Kalispell Fire Department on Dec. 14, 1970, serving the city as a fire fighter until Oct. 20, 1975; then lieutenant until March 1, 1979; captain until Aug. 4, 1986; and fire marshal until June 1, 1988. The last promotion was to assistant chief, an office he held until his retirement in 1997. Ted was injured in a fire, at the Equity grain elevator and became disabled. He made lifelong friends at the fire department and enjoyed their company for coffee until he could no longer drive. On May 10, 1982, Ted married Sherryl Bain and on March 30, 1985, they welcomed their only child, a daughter, Sarah. Ted loved refinishing antiques for their home which holds many memories of those keepsakes. The restoration of a 1995 Corvette Stingray was a labor of love as was his Chevrolet El Camino. Ted was an active part of the First Presbyterian Church until his health prevented many activities. Thank you from Ted s family to Frontier Hospice, Family Health Care (Dr. Habel), Home Solutions and Home Options who have cared so greatly for Ted and his family.
