WHITEFISH - Jeremy Nielson ran for 153 yards on 22 carries and scored three touchdowns as the Whitefish Bulldogs dropped visiting Browning 27-6 in a nonconference football game on Friday night.

Nielson's scoring jaunts were from five, 28 and four yards.

Whitefish (1-1) took control early, leading 20-0 at half.

As a team, the Bulldogs rushed for 180 yards and threw for 293 yards.

"It was a great win, especially after an emotional week, losing (quarterback) Mac (Roche).

"Connor Donohue did a great job stepping in, filling big shoes," said Whitefish's first year coach Chad Ross.

"Mac was there all week, speaking in his ear, telling him what to do. (Roche) could have just hung it up."

Donohue wound up 20-for-30 for 274 yards with one touchdown.

"(Offensive coordinator) Eric May called a great game, calling plays Connor could be successful at," Ross added.

He also complimented Whitefish's offensive line and Nathan Weidenmeyer at defensive end and nose guard.

"Phenomenal job. Those guys just did a great job up front. It was our second game in a row without a sack," the coach said.

The Bulldogs are at Anaconda at 7 p.m. next Friday.
