Road access in three areas on the Swan Lake Ranger District of the Flathead National Forest will be temporarily affected as several culverts are being replaced with bridges.

The existing culverts are old and undersized and are barriers to fish and aquatic species.

The projects are funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

n The Smith Creek Road (Forest Road 9762) approximately four miles east of Condon will be closed at milepost 1.7 beginning approximately Sept. 9 for three weeks.

The Smith Creek Trailhead will be closed to stock use and open only to foot traffic. This contract was awarded to Independence Construction of Eureka for $100,000.

n The Falls Creek Road Loop (Forest Road 901) east of Condon will be closed at milepost 3.8.

Travelers will be able to reach the loop road from the north and south but will not be able to drive the full loop.

This work is anticipated to begin Sept. 15 and the closure will be in effect for approximately three weeks.

This contract was awarded to Independence Construction of Eureka for $94,000.

n The Condon Loop Road (Forest Road 124) east of Condon will be closed at mile post 0.8 for approximately three weeks beginning Sept. 15.
