Lurking bear adds to mother's worries

The black bear in the Hellman Lane area only magnified a mother’s worry when she found her 10-year-old son hadn’t gotten off the school bus Wednesday afternoon. The child was found with his father several minutes later, and a Flathead County Sheriff’s deputy reported the bear to Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.

Deputies investigated burglary alarms at a house under construction near Blanchard Lake and a “large-sounding” alarm on U.S. 2 East.

The dog that attacked another on Cougar Trail was reported as vicious.

The horses that reportedly weren’t being fed in Columbia Falls weren’t in critical condition, but an animal warden tossed them some hay anyway.
