More good news for C-Falls

| September 17, 2010 2:00 AM

Kalispell Regional Medical Center is the latest in a long line of businesses and agencies recently that have given their imprimatur to Columbia Falls as a good place to build.

The hospital has announced it will build a primary-care and imaging clinic next to Super 1 Foods on U.S. 2. Construction on the 8,021-square-foot building is scheduled to begin next month.

This is an important addition to the community as it develops its new identity for the 21st century. It also helps in the short term as it means construction jobs at a time when plenty of people need work.

The facility will serve as an urgent-care clinic and would also offer another spot for North Valley residents to go for MRI, CT-scans, ultrasound imaging and X-rays.

Kalispell Regional already has a huge economic impact on the Flathead Valley. It’s nice to see some of that impact spread to Columbia Falls.

ATTENTION, Glacier Park fans: This is the last weekend this year to be able to drive to Logan Pass from the west side.

The pass closure is to allow intense reconstruction work on Going-to-the-Sun Road.

That means that starting Sunday night, motorists can’t drive past Avalanche Campground.

But don’t fear — all the rest of Glacier Park is open to autumn visitors.

You still can get to Logan Pass from the east side and hikers and bikers for the most part will be allowed past Avalanche.

And there still is lots of Glacier to explore beyond that one stretch of Sun Road. Consider the North Fork or Two Medicine or Many Glacier, among other options, for visitors to enjoy the unparalleled beauty of Glacier Park.
