Polson pounds Anaconda

ANACONDA - Quarterback Vince DiGiallonardo ran for three touchdowns and passed 27 yards to Louis Mohr for another as No. 4-ranked Polson rolled to a 41-0 nonconference victory over Anaconda (1-3) on Friday.

DiGiallonardo's TD runs covered 3, 5 and 6 yards. He finished with 106 yards rushing on seven attempts and was 9 of 12 passing for 201 yards.

The Pirates scored in every quarter and led 28-0 at the half.

Also scoring were Chris Cote on a 15-yard run and Will Davey on a 70-yard scamper.

Kyle Bagnell was 6 of 7 on PAT kicks.

Polson (4-0) is off on Friday, but starts Northwestern A play Oct. 1 at home with Columbia Falls.

Mohr had a big night with six receptions for 139 yards.

WHITEFISH - Caleb Vance had a pair of touchdown passes in the opening quarter and ran for another, and Tyler Murray threw for two more and also ran for two touchdowns as Stevensville cruised past Whitefish in nonconference play.

Stevensville (3-1) led 47-0 at the half.

"We're just young," Whitefish coach Chad Ross said.

"Of the 22 kids who started against Havre, we've lost eight guys (to injuries)."

Whitefish started five sophomores, five juniors and one senior against Stevensville.

"We have to get better every game technique wise," Ross said.

"The kids have a really good attitude."

Whitefish (1-3) begins Northwestern A play on Friday at Ronan.

PLAINS - Bigfork scored early, and often, in rolling to an easy District 7B football victory over Plains.

Bigfork (2-1 and 1-0) led 35-0 at the half.

"It was a great night," Bigfork coach Todd Emslie said. "We put another four quarters together again. We just came out and executed."

Bigfork quarterback Christian Ker completed 4 of 6 passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns. He threw one interception.

Running back Travis Knoll ran for three touchdowns (7, 60 and 4 yards). He finished with 166 yards on 12 carries.

"Travis is doing very well," Emslie said.

"He's having a great season so far."

Bigfork continues with league play on Friday, hosting Eureka.

Eureka 45, Troy 26

EUREKA - Troy took an early 14-0 lead, but it was all Eureka after that as quarterback Colin Gillard threw four touchdown passes and ran 1 yard for another score to power Eureka to a District 7B victory.

Gillard was 13 of 25 passing for 275 yards and no interceptions.

"Gillard had a good game, made some nice throws," Eureka coach Ed Newell said. "We needed to spread the ball around and he did a good job of distributing the ball all over the field."

Six different Lions were on the receiving end. Bryton Guckenberg had three receptions for 101 yards and two TDS, 46 and 29 yards.

Chris Ibach hauled in a 33-yard TD pass from Gillard, and Ryan Holder's TD pass covered 33 yards.

Taylor Vaughn ran for 101 yards on 19 attempts and scored a touchdown.

Eureka (2-1 and 1-0) led Troy (2-1 and 1-1) 30-20 at the half.

Eureka linebacker Andrew Derby had 13 tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery, which he returned 25 yards to the Troy 2-yard line. Defensive end Caleb Curtiss had nine tackles, two QB hurries and also recovered a fumble.

DILLON - Ben Folson, a sophomore backup quarterback, ran for two touchdowns and returned an interception 85 yards for another score, all in the first half, as second-ranked Dillon defeated Columbia Falls 28-0 in nonconference play.

Dillon (3-0) starting quarterback J.T. Linder suffered an ankle injury in the opening quarter.

Nate Thompson had another big night for Columbia Falls (1-3). The senior running back had 182 yards on 37 attempts.

Kaleb Johnson had three receptions for 45 yards for the Wildcats.

Kelly May ran 7 yards for a touchdown and passed 51 yards to Josiah Coker for another to put the Loggers (2-2) up 15-0 in the opening quarter.

Josh Brenneman ran for four touchdowns and passed for one to spark the Broncs (2-1).
